Het verhaal achter het standbeeld van de ballerina van Budva draait om de verloren liefde tussen een ballerina en een zeeman uit Budva. Door de eeuwen heen heeft het fort verschillende renovaties en uitbreidingen ondergaan, die de intrigerende ontwikkeling van de militaire architectuur weerspiegelen. Belangrijke historische gebeurtenissen zijn de strategische betekenis tijdens de Ottomaanse expansie in Europa en de rol onder de Venetiaanse Republiek. Vandaag de dag is Forte Mare een trots symbool van het rijke erfgoed van het gebied, met indrukwekkende stenen muren en een prachtig uitzicht op zee.
